JOB TITLE: Director of Food Service Division

DEPARTMENT: Food Service

POSITION REPORTS TO: CEO

DATE REVISED: July 1, 2025

Position Purpose

To the lead the Food Service department operations such that it meets or exceeds service, financial and safety objectives. Responsible for ensuring each account is profitable.

Employee Management

  • Directly manages the Food Service District Managers and administrative employees; responsible for oversight of a total workforce of 80 or more employees.
  • Responsible for employee engagement, coaching and discipline; Partner with Human Resources to ensure legal and appropriate employee management.
  • Determine appropriate staffing levels to fulfill service agreement; Partner with Human Resources to fill positions.
  • Engage with employees and customers by visiting worksite locations

Leadership

  • Works in collaboration with company management to create a strategic plan to support profit & customer satisfaction
  • Responsible for creating & executing an effective communications process that reaches the entire Food Service department, including employees and customers
  • Schedule and leads staff meetings & training for Food Service employees regularly
  • Creates & implements department policy and procedures pertaining to all food service operations to achieve maximum efficiency, employee safety, and customer service

Financial Responsibility

  • Lead Food Service team to produce profitable accounts by coaching managers on efficiency and employee management
  • Initiate analysis of Profit & Loss performance for each location. Provide guidance for managers to improve performance for each location
  • Partner with the Sales Director and Chief Financial Officer to conduct a cost analysis and prepare information for proposals for new or recurring customers.

Operations

  • Supervise approval of vendor invoices
  • Monitor plate costs, investigating reasons for excessive expenses & create plans for improvement
  • Work with the Finance Department to create an annual budget for the Food Service Department
  • Present quarterly to the team of director on performance and activity

Customer Service

  • Maintains regular communication & strong business relationships with customers and serve as primary contact to resolve customer service issues and create a plan for improvement or corrective action
  • Represents the company with high ethical standards

Compliance & Safety

  • Responsible for safe working practices including compliance with OSHA standards
  • Responsible for enforcing food safety standards

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION: Bachelor’s degree required; Concentration in business preferred.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE: Excellent computer knowledge including use of Microsoft Word, Outlook & Excel programs.

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of experience managing multiple locations and a large team of employees.

SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Ability to travel regularly
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft products including Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel programs
  • Excellent organization skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving & conflict resolution skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Must be able to drive a motor vehicle and hold valid driver license
  • Basic knowledge of food preparation

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved instructions & deal with problems involving few variables

  • Must be able to hear and receive normal conversations and information
  • Must have average visual abilities necessary to read a computer screen
  • Must be able to solve basic math problems including adding, subtracting, multiplication and division
  • Must be able to communicate with a passive vocabulary of 5000 to 6000 words, to read at a medium rate, write basic sentences and communicate in standard sentences with good vocabulary
