  • JOB REQUIREMENTS
    • Education

    • Required:
      High school diploma or equivalent, with demonstrated skills and proficiency in oral and written grammar, communication, and basic mathematics. CPR certification

      Preferred:
      Working knowledge of physiology, anatomy, neurology, and medical terminology.


    • Experience
      • Preferred: Prior experience in a healthcare, outpatient clinic, or physical therapy setting. Prior patient registration, scheduling, or medical office experience.

      • Knowledge / Skills

        Required:

        Ability to perform delegated, selected, or routine patient-care tasks under the close supervision of a licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant, including preparing patients and treatment areas.

        Ability to accurately collect, enter, and maintain patient demographic and registration information.

        Working knowledge of hospital registration systems and basic office equipment.

        Strong customer service orientation with patients, families, and visitors.

        Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA and hospital policy.
        Ability to shift fluidly between clinical support and administrative/registration duties based on daily clinic needs.

        Ability to problem-solve, pay attention to detail, and plan effectively.

        Effective oral and written communication skills.

        Basic computer skills

        Preferred:

        Familiarity with physical therapy treatment-area setup and equipment turnover.

        Experience working within the EHR/registration system used at SBMC.

      • Requires physical strength to perform the essential functions of both the clinical and administrative components of this role. Must be able to work required schedule. Hearing within normal range. Visual acuity corrected to 20/20. Frequent sitting, stooping, standing, walking, and bending. Frequent pushing/pulling up to 250 pounds and carrying up to 35 pounds; frequent carrying up to 10 pounds a distance of 80 feet. Lifting up to 100 pounds; occasional lifting up to 10 pounds from floor to shoulder and up to 5 pounds overhead. Fine hand manipulation, bilaterally, continuously.
  • JOB SUMMARY
    • The PT Tech / Administrative Assistant combines patient-facing clinical support with front-office administrative and registration responsibilities within the rehab services department. Working under the close supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant whose license is in good standing, this position performs delegated, selected, or routine patient-care tasks including preparing patients and treatment area while also arranging for the efficient and orderly registration of patients.


      This role ensures accurate collection of patient demographic and insurance information, communicates hospital policies and procedures to patients and visitors, and works with and has access to confidential patient information used in the preparation of records and reports supporting operational decisions. The employee is expected to move fluidly between clinical support and administrative duties based on daily clinic volume and staffing needs, maintaining consistent quality, customer service, and regulatory compliance across both functions.
