Required:
High school diploma or equivalent
Preferred:
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Criminology, Psychology, Sociology, or related field

Preferred:
- Experience in one or more of the following:
- Security or law enforcement
- Behavioral health or psychiatric settings
- Corrections, probation, or military service
- Social services or crisis response
Knowledge / Skills
Required:
- Crisis intervention and de-escalation
- Strong observation and communication skills
- Emotional regulation and professionalism under pressure
- Conflict resolution and critical thinking
- Team collaboration
Licensure/Certifications: (Required within 90 days)
- CPR/AED Certification
- Crisis intervention training such as:
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Institute)
- Therapeutic Alternatives or equivalent
- Facility-specific training (e.g., de-escalation, restraint techniques)

Normal hospital environment. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Ability to lift up to 150 lbs and assist in patient handling, Carrying up to 50 lbs, Pushing/Pulling up to 350 lbs. Frequent standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to respond quickly in emergency situations. Exposure to healthcare environments, including biological hazards.

The Behavioral Health Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe, secure, and therapeutic environment within behavioral health units and crisis stabilization settings. This role combines traditional security functions with behavioral health support, including crisis intervention, de-escalation, and collaboration with clinical staff to ensure the safety of patients, staff, and visitors.
