- JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Education
- APRN: Licensed by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing as an Acute Care or Critical Care Advanced Practice Nurse. Certification by a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges.

- PA-C: Graduate of an AMA-approved Physician Assistant program. Certification by a national certifying body with prescriptive privileges.

- BLS and ACLS certification required.

- Experience
- Two years of experience with at least one of those years in the ICU setting.

- This is a safety sensitive position. Please see the St. Bernards Substance Abuse Policy for further information.
- Normal hospital environment. Exposure to biological hazards. Frequent exposure to unpleasant odors. Close eye work. Hearing of normal and soft tones. Distinguish smells. Distinguish temperatures by touch and proximity. May be exposed to airborne and infectious materials. Required to stand, walk, sit, push and pull, use fingers to handle, or feel objects, tools or controls. Reach with hands and arms. Lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds.

- JOB SUMMARY
- The intensivist APN or PA-C provides direct patient care services for complex critically ill adult patients in the ICU setting in collaboration with and under the supervision of the Intensivist, the pulmonary or critical care physician or the covering hospitalist. The APN or PA-C performs physical exams, collects and documents data, conducts diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, orders and schedules laboratory studies and professional consultations, prescribes appropriate interventions and medications, coordinates the care and discharge of patients, and provides direct patient care services. The APN or PA-C contributes to excellence in patient care.
