Job Responsibilities
•
Receives, identifies, organizes, and prioritizes specimens to ensure accurate and timely test processing.
•
Performs and reports requested laboratory procedures.
•
Performs quality control, proficiency testing, calibration of instruments used and routine instrument maintenance and inventory control. Orders, helps track, and maintain supplies/inventory. Maintains QC information up to date in Epic.
•
Evaluates positive patient identification to reduce analytical and post-analytical error and/or adverse patient outcomes.
•
Supports life long learning. Helps with ongoing one-on-one training for new hires and all other staff. Supports as a backup when technical consultant/director is unavailable.
•
Completes assigned goals.
Specifications
Experience
Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired
Two (2) years’ experience as a Medical Laboratory Technician.
Clinical laboratory experience
Education
Description Minimum Required Preferred/Desired
Associate degree in Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited MLT program, or successful completion of at least a 50 week official US military medical laboratory procedures training course and currently hold or have held the military enlisted occupational specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist.
