Technician- Ophthalmic

Job Summary

Provides patient care as directed by the professional registered nurse and/or Physician and is accountable for own actions under this direction. Provides a caring relationship that facilitates health and healing and delivers care in a manner that preserves and protects patient autonomy, dignity and rights. Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Carries out initial vision assessment
• Performs auto-refraction measurements
• Conducts pupil and Visual Field assessment
• Performs ophthalmic imaging studies
• Administers anesthetic and dilating medications
• Performs surgical measurements
• Coordinates surgical planning
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Specifications

Experience

Minimum Required

Preferred/Desired

• 1 year relevant experience in a clinic, medical office, or hospital setting.

Education

• Appropriate education

Minimum Required

• Knowledge, skills and mental development equivalent to completion of 4 years of high school, or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
