Valto is seeking a Material Handler Supervisor to be based in Jonesboro, Arkansas, reporting directly to the Plant Manager. This role is responsible for leading the team that manages the movement, storage, and supply of materials throughout the facility. Their role is critical to ensuring production runs efficiently, safely, and without interruption.

Position Demands

  • Maintain good attendance and a positive work attitude by working in a harmonious manner and interact in a cooperative way with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Have knowledge and understanding of all safety guidelines and specific safety hazards associated with position.
  • Have knowledge of and use all safety equipment required for position.
  • Need thorough understanding of materials used in process and how they are to be handled.
  • Ability to read measuring instruments, including tape measure.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and make independent judgments.
  • Knowledge of Materials Requirements Planning methodology and systems applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Must obtain RCRA/DOT Hazmat certification within first 60 days of assuming role.
  • Responsible for control of daily shipment requirements to ensure on-time delivery of all orders.
  • Ensure all inventory transactions into the finished goods warehouse are complete and accurate.
  • Utilize appropriate loading techniques to achieve maximum freight advantage while adhering to all U.S. and International freight and highway regulations.
  • Plan appropriate warehouse layout design to maximize storage density while maintaining a safe working environment.
  • Develop and implement appropriate material processes and systems to improve efficiency and effectiveness and deliver positive metrics.
  • Complete cycle counts for all products per schedule and resolve discrepancies thorough root cause investigation and corrective actions.
  • Responsible for ensuring your department responds in a timely and effective manner to any/all issues.
  • Direct and monitor activities of the Material/Warehouse department personnel. Ensure all activities are accomplished in accordance with proper company, department, and safety procedures and work instructions.
  • Ensure all employees are properly trained and knowledgeable on equipment, tools, and procedures they are expected to work with.
  • Support development of personnel to expand skill sets and capabilities within the department.
  • Respond/Report to calls during off hours and/or weekends as needed to support plant operations and be able to work various shifts, as determined by business and production requirements.
  • Evaluate employee performances on a regular basis. As needed, provide performance feedback, counseling, coaching, disciplinary warnings, or other corrective action.
  • Complete Employee Timecards daily and complete/audit all timecards during each payroll cycle.
  • Ensure there is a smooth transition during shift changes. Communicate all appropriate information to production personnel and supervisors that are relieving your crew. Obtain that information that you require to successfully and productively operate your shift.
  • Actively contributes to problem solving and process improvement activities and cooperate with other departments that may require support, such as Production, Product Development, Sales, Shipping and Quality Assurance.
  • Complete department reports and paperwork in a timely and accurate manner and maintain required recordkeeping and documentation.
  • Read, understand and adhere to rules and guidelines stated in the Employee Handbook.
  • Ensure product quality standards are maintained for all products and conform to Quality system procedures and documentation.

Safety Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment and follow all safety procedures and rules. Immediately correct any unsatisfactory housekeeping or hazardous conditions that come to your attention or are in your work area.
  • Ensure safety rules and policies are followed. Take corrective actions when hazardous activities occur or unsafe conditions exist. Lead or coordinate regular safety programs and meetings with your crew.
  • Respond to any first aid and emergency situation. Take any and all actions necessary to ensure the emergency condition is properly handled.
  • Ensure a safe and secure work environment, making sure to focus on the safety of all employees.
  • Must wear or use all required personal protective equipment.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 3 to 7 years industrial experience in a Material/Warehouse related role.
  • Supervisory experience desired.
  • Ability to work in a harmonious manner and interact in a cooperative manner with supervisors and co-workers.
  • Knowledge of MRP (KBM) system, all transactions and required support processes and procedures
  • Knowledge of hazardous waste handling requirements
  • Solid working knowledge of all U.S. highway and international shipping and packaging regulations.
  • Knowledge of safe handling practices of fork-lift operations.
  • Broad understanding of facility manufacturing processes.

Education:

  • High School Diploma required.
  • Supervisory or leadership training/development courses desired.
  • APICS certification desired.
